Medical microneedling in CDA
Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure using surgical grade micro needle tips to create thousands of temporary micro-channels to injure the skin. These injuries help promote growth factors, new collagen and elastin resulting in healthier looking skin. The procedure can help reduce the appearance of skin concerns such as:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Mild to moderate acne scars
- Skin texture and pore size
- Skin regeneration
- Stretch marks
- Sun damage
frequently asked questions
What happens during a microneedling treatment?
About 45 to 60 minutes prior to the treatment, a numbing cream will be applied. After being sufficiently numbed, a hand-held electric tool with tiny needles will be rolled slowly and gently across your skin. The tiny needles pulse up and down to puncture your skin creating injuries to your skin. These injuries help promote growth factors, new collagen and elastin resulting in healthier looking skin.
What are the risks of microneedling?
Microneedling is a safe procedure. Bruising, scarring, or skin infection are possible side effects.
What are the benefits of microneedling?
Microneedling improves the appearance and texture of your skin and minimizes stretch marks, scars and wrinkles. Unlike other procedures that use heat, light or lasers, microneedling does not discolor the skin.
What can I expect after microneedling?
Your skin will be slightly red after the treatment, and this will fade over the course of a few hours. You might notice that your skin burns or feels tight and or you may experience dry, flaking skin.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments will depend on the condition of the skin and area(s) that need to be treated. Typically, we recommend a series of three to six treatments depending on the treatment area and condition of the skin. Patients with advanced sun damage, deep wrinkles, or stretch marks may require more treatments to resolve. Dr. Stafford will have a consultation with prior to your treatment to review your health history, discuss your desired outcomes and determine an optimal treatment plan.
How often can I have a treatment?
Treatments can be administered every three to eight weeks. It can take three to six months to see results. After your goals are achieved, we recommend an annual treatment for maintenance.
